With proper care, they'll last for years. To keep them safe, put them in an area protected from direct sunlight or heavy winds. Take them inside during winter months and store them in an unheated area.
Use a damp cloth to clean them from time to time and apply a coat of clear varnish every year or so to protect them from excessive heat and humidity. This will help to extend their life.
The bamboo is carefully harvested and the tubes are slowly cured to reduce the risk of cracks and prolong the life of the chime. Bamboo is sensitive to humidity and sudden temperature changes, and expands and contracts in reaction to ambient weather conditions. Hairline cracks may appear, but unless they become large, won't affect the chime's sound or durability.
We inspected each chime before it leaves the warehouse, but if you receive a chime with damage, or large cracks, please photograph it and contact us immediately so we can get a new one to you as quickly as possible.
