With proper care, they'll last for years. Place them in a protected area like a porch overhang or a shady tree, and take them inside during extreme weather conditions - especially during winter months. Store them in an unheated area, and use a damp cloth from time to time to clean them. Apply a coat of clear varnish every year or so to protect them from excessive heat and humidity. Hairline cracks may appear, but unless they become large cracks, will not affect the sound of the chime.
Each chime is inspected before it leaves the warehouse, but in the unlikely event that you receive a chime with damage, or large cracks, please photograph it and contact us immediately so we can quickly send a replacement chime to you.
