Clean with a damp cloth as necessary to and apply a coat of clear varnish every year or so to protect it from excessive heat and humidity.
Bamboo expands and contracts in reaction to seasonal climate changes. Hairline cracks may appear, but unless they develop into large cracks, will not affect the sound or durability of the chime.
